Sydney Bears Sign Forward Billy Cliff for season 2016. Billy sat out last year and is excited to return to the AIHL as the Sydney Bears look to field their strongest team in recent years.
Billy last played previously in the AIHL for the Sydney Ice Dogs and won the Goodall Cup in 2013. He is also a former Australian Representative player.
Billy is excited to get the season underway and says it was the opportunity to play with some old team mates that got him to commit to the Bears “I had some contact with some of the guys and the team sounded really strong this year so the decision to come back was an easy one. I’ve played with several of the guys over the years on various teams so the transition will be pretty easy for me. I’ve always loved the rivalry with the Bears in the past so now I get to see it from the other side I guess.”
Head Coach Ron Kuprowsky is happy Billy has commited to the Bears this season. “Billy will give us great depth up front. He has a ton of experience which is huge in this league, he will make the Bears harder to play against than previous years. I’ve known him and coached him before so I know exactly what we’re going to get which is leadership, experience and grit. That means a lot to coaches”
The Bears season kicks of Sunday April 24 against the CBR Brave before taking on Billy old team the Sydney Ice Dogs on 1st May 2016.
