On Sunday May 1, the Bears meet their cross-town rivials, the Ice Dogs in the first regular season Battle Of Sydney at Penrith Ice Palace. 

In the pre-season Wilson Cup, the Bears won 2-1 in the first game at Penrith Ice Palace and the Final 3-1. The Ice Dogs claimed a shootout win at Liverpool 2-1.

In last week's AIHL season opening weekend, both teams were defeated by the CBR Brave. The Ice Dogs lost 5-2 in Canberra while the Bears lost 6-3 at Penrith Ice Palace. Both teams will be looking for their first win of the season this weekend. 

On Saturday, the Ice Dogs play Melbourne Ice at Liverpool before traveling to Penrith Ice Palace on Sunday to play the Bears. The Battle of Sydney is the only game that the Bears play this weekend. 

Last weekend against CBR Brave, Richard Tesarik, Geoff Irwin & Lee Turner scored goals. Brian Funes scored 2 assists. Saxon Air, Lachlan McKenzie, Michael Schlamp & Patrick Ward scored assists.

Recent form suggests a tough battle worthy of the title #BattleOfSydney.
