The Bears head away from Penrith Ice Palace for the first time in the 2016 AIHL season with their first road trip to Canberra on Saturday May 7. Both the Bears and the Brave will be keen for redemption after big scores against them last Sunday.
The Bears had one game last weekend on Sunday against the Sydney Ice Dogs in the first Battle Of Sydney. The Dogs overpowered the Bears, winning 6-2. With a full week together after that game with nearly their full 2016 squad, the Bears will be keen for work during training this week to be reflected during the game. Look for the Bears' Australian goalie Anthony Kimlin to return for this game after his World Championship success with the Mighty Roos and the off-season in Canada. For new imports Geoff Irwin, Brent Vandenberg & Ryan Annesley, it will be their first trip to the Brave Cave.
Meanwhile, the Brave last week had a mixed weekend against the Melbourne Mustangs. The vistors won 4-2 on Saturday but had a horror 3rd period on Sunday, losing 7-1. The Bears would be keen to keep that horror going for the Brave who had 6 goals put on them in the final period.
