For the third time in the regular season, the Battle Of Sydney between the Bears & Ice Dogs takes place at Liverpool on Saturday 28 May at 5pm. So far, the Ice Dogs have won both battles, 6-2 at Penrith Ice Palace and a 4-3 shootout loss at Liverpool.
Last weekend, the Bears had one game against the Newcastle North Stars. After establishing a 4-2 lead in period 2, the Bears went down 6-4 after 4 unanswered goals. It was their best offensive game of the year however the team have not won in regulation time. After the Battle of Sydney at Liverpool, the Bears travel to Canberra the following day to meet the CBR Brave.
Meanwhile, the Ice Dogs traveled to Melbourne with mixed results. On Saturday, they lost to the Ice 3-1. On Sunday, they staged a late surge to defeat the Mustangs 6-4.
Bears have not won in regulation time and have only 1 shootout win (against CBR Brave in Canberra) in their 7 games (4 points). Ice Dogs have won 3 games (2 regulation wins, 1 shootout win) out of their 9 games (8 points).
This weekend, the Bears must record wins. There is no better way of recording the first win of the year in regulation time than to do it against the cross-town rival.
