Meet The Players: Ryan Annesley

MEET THE PLAYERS: 
#16 Ryan Annesley 

What other teams/leagues have you played for?
I played ncaa division 1 for Niagara University. Then played in the ECHL for the Cincinatti Cyclones and the Bakersfield Condors before going to Norway and playing for Stjernen. 

What have you noticed is the main differences in the Australian league? 
The biggest difference is without question, the nets instead of the glass in the rinks. 

Why did you decide to come to Sydney? 
I decided to come to Sydney because of my interaction with Ron (Bears’ head coach) and the fact that I’ve always wanted to come to Australia. 

Why did you choose your number? 
I’ve worn 16 the majority of my career it is my lucky number! 

What do you think of the quality of hockey in this country? 
I’m actually quite impressed with the quality of hockey so far. Even more impressive is the parity in the league. Every game has been tight so far. 

Do you have any pre-game rituals or superstitions? 
Before every game since I was a kid, I need to have a banana. It gives me energy and has now become a ritual. 

How long have you been playing hockey and how did you get into it?
I started playing hockey at 6 or 7 in Canada. Getting into it is easy in Canada because everyone plays it and it’s our national sport! 

Who is your favourite NHL team & player? 
My favorite nhl team is the Toronto Maple Leafs. My favorite player is Duncan Keith.
